My local Target is tearing down Christmas and setting up Valentine's displays.

It made my last-minute Christmas shopping just that more irritating.

Can't they at least wait until Christmas is over before shoving all the Christmas stuff into the back of aisles?

Why are we constantly living our lives months in advance?

OK, rant off. My fault, I guess, for leaving little odds & ends for the last minute....

(I went to a few other places, and Christmas was still in full swing there...it seems it's only Target where Christmas is over).

I would think that this is an effort to

1). Condense down the Christmas Seasonal Sections that have likely sold through and have pretty big holes in them now. (You can't sell empty shelves.

2). Get stuff out of the backroom, so that people can move safely. This time of year, it's a maze of incoming deliveries from warehouse and vendors and they are being pounded with the Beer, Soda, Chips, Liquor deliveries that need space for the final push this weekend.

3). Keep the staff working, particularly seasonal workers who will likely soon be departing.

4). Generally get a jump on things. Being ahead is never, ever a bad thing.

Shove the Christmas stuff to the FRONT of the store, rather than hiding it away on the back end caps of aisles.

however, If you are going into the store to buy Christmas items this time a year (a reasonable bet) as a Retailer I want you to walk to the back of the store past as many things as possible in order for you to get there. Stores and displays are laid out as they are for a reason.

In a Michaels yesterday. All they had up were a few expensive decorated wreaths.
