Hate to be a wet blanket, it is a funny idea, but...

Whoever steals your junk is just going to throw it out by the side if the highway. Would YOU consider it acceptable to take your garbage and throw it out your car window? Because that’s what is going to happen to it!

of a joke from the Ed Sullivan show in the 1960's.

I can't remember the comedian, but his stand-up act referred to a garbage workers strike during that time, and he described (jokingly, I assume) wrapping up his garbage in brightly wrapped boxes, and leaving it in the front seat of his unlocked car with the windows open.

Hey, it got a laugh.
