One year ago: 1990 "Quantum Leap" episode with Scrooge-like character based on Trump airs on COZI TV

From December 24, 2017:

1990 episode of "Quantum Leap" with Scrooge-like character based on Donald Trump airs on COZI TV

The character who needed help in tonight's Christmas episode of "Quantum Leap" was clearly based on Donald Trump. Trump has been tagged as a jerk for decades, so this likeness could hardly come as a surprise. See Gary Trudeau's comics if you don't believe me. The earliest "Doonesbury" in Trudeau's book "Yuge!" in which Donald Trump makes an appearance is dated September 14, 1987.

Because I watch TV over the air, I watch a lot of old TV shows from the '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s. At this time of year, I see a lot of Christmas episodes of shows. COZI TV is running back-to-back episodes of "Quantum Leap" tonight. The Christmas episode that was just on was about a real estate developer who was hell-bent on evicting a mission so that he could build a tower named after himself -- the Blake Tower. Sam (Scott Bakula) and Al (Dean Stockwell) came up with a ruse that made him see the error of his ways. He renounced his greed, and even though he did go ahead with building the Blake Tower, he made room for the mission on the ground floor.

I'm sure you can view this on demand if you can't get COZI TV.

Quantum Leap

List of Quantum Leap episodes

The show was "A Little Miracle," episode 10 from season 3:

"A Little Miracle"
Directed by: Michael Watkins
Story by: Sandy Fries
Teleplay by: Sandy Fries and Robert A. Wolterstorff
Leap location and date: New York City; December 24, 1962
Aired: December 21, 1990

Sam leaps into Reginald Pearson (Milan Nicksic), a personal valet to a Scrooge-like industrialist who is bent on demolishing a Salvation Army mission, forcing Sam and Al to 'Scrooge' him by showing him his past, present and future in an attempt to change his mind.
Note: Charles Rocket guest stars.

Yesterday, I caught the end of the Monkees Christmas TV show where they bring out all the crew members at the end. That's a good episode.

List of The Monkees episodes

Season 2, Episode 15. "The Monkees' Christmas Show"
Directed by: Jon C. Andersen
Story by : Dave Evans and Neil Burstyn
Teleplay by : Neil Burstyn
Aired: December 25, 1967

The Monkees try to instill the spirit of Christmas in a cynical little boy (Butch Patrick) who has soured on the whole idea.

Song: "Riu Chiu" (sung by the Monkees a cappella)
Notes: No laugh track. Instead of the standard closing credits, the Monkees appear on the set and invite many of the behind-the-scenes staff and crew members to appear with them on camera. The closing credits appear over the joyful crowd. As part of an elf costume, Davy wears Mike's iconic green wool cap.

Well, I have to call George Soros to tell him where to send the money for my having sent the horse manure to Steve Mnuchin.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, everyone.

It had been in the back of mind to link to those in the week before Christmas. There was so much else going that on I forgot, of course. I was at home yesterday, where I am on -- no kidding -- dialup. Without a fast connection, all I could do was repost last year's post.

I can't recall when The Monkees shows up on my TV, so I didn't see that episode this year. Wasn't that a marvelous program? It's not Christmas without that episode.

Thank you again.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
