3 or 4 hours at a time. Fortunately, I make my own work schedule, so I can deal with this without too much trouble.

No decaf coffee around here, but lots of tea. Coffee will be made later on.

10. Cat cuddles help a LOT.

So do dog cuddles. A stabilizing presence in these dark days. I have trouble sleeping, too. Toss and turn, get up very early. This orange mistake in the WH is having a terrible effect on people with a conscience. I hope some of the gop leaders are losing sleep, too, after promoting the worst president EVER to be in the WH.

There is always someone around to entertain or engage us - 24/7 - here on DU. Gratitude.

16. I was remembering spending New Year's Eve 2006 here

I was staying with someone who was injured and ended up having surgery - and I was awake and in the company of three dogs. I checked in with DU and wished a Happy New Year to another DUer, an American who was overseas - think they were in Egypt - and though they weren't alone, they were feeling a little homesick at that moment.

Someone else on DU said that I was lucky to be with three dogs - and I was since all three (two of them were mine) are gone now. And I am with three dogs again (one of them is mine) and one cat (also mine) and I'm reminded that I am fortunate to have them for company, no matter the hour.

And the next day I remember reading a "thank you" post from that DUer who said it meant so much to exchange New Year's greetings with those from home. And that made me realize the power of DU and that none of us ever have to be alone.

I sleep til early afternoon. I've grown used to it. It's just what is. It's gotten worse the past 2 years, though. I just watch something on the TV, or read books or online stuff (like this!).

Sometimes you just can’t turn off your racing mind.
