So I had my second visit for my root canal.

I had plenty of novocain but it was not pleasant. First, the shots of novocain right in the mouth are not very pleasant (and my dentist has skilled hands). I was in the chair over an hour. My bill was...well, let's not talk about my bill...

What was your root canal experience?

a root canal on me without any novocaine.

Needless to say, I tend to avoid dentists.

...next. He said any tooth with a root canal would eventually fail or need to be pulled. Other than that I think my root canal experience wasnt extremely uncomfortable. Just the shot and the time in the chair, like you, was bad. At least with my implants I was zzzzzzzz.

I have to go back for a follow up (no drill, no novocain, just a look-see)

went in, got gas and novo... and he drilled...and drilled...and drilled...

got 2 out of 3 roots done, but could NOT get into the 3rd root.

He packed it up and i had to wait through the holidays to get in to see him again...finally he ended up having to take the whole tooth out
(let's just say that was a horrible Christmas and Birthday and I was popping vocodin like fucking chicklets)

when he took the tooth into the lab, he sliced it in half to see what the problem was...turns out my 3rd root literally wrapped around the tooth like a ribbon, it was flat, so that's why he couldn't drill into it, just couldn't make that angle.

Yea, I hate dental work in all forms. can't even get my teeth cleaned w/o nitrous these days. Ironically, I was a dental assistant for years in my late teens early 20s, and it never bothered me...

I tell them I’m tough to numb so they go pretty heavy. I don’t have any pain problems during them, but it aches like you wouldn’t believe after from getting 6-10 shots.
And they don’t give Vicodin anymore because of the opioid crisis. I have really good insurance, and use my wife’s as a supplement, so the two crowns ( third was free because the dentist cracked it during the root canal) and the root canal were only 450 out of pocket.

very uncomfortable. Had to redo novocain injections because he hit a blood vessel and numbed one side of my face all the way to my forehead. Billed me for the extra novocain!
