He managed to hold on to the rail the whole way and basically just laid down on the steps.

Reminds me of my dad. Many years ago I had a Honda that had an automatic shoulder belt that deployed when you shut the door. My dad got in and started fighting the seat belt when it started moving. By the time they were done he was wrapped up like a fly in a spider's web.

I looked over at him, and said, "Sometimes dad, you just have to go with it."
