In defense of catholic schools in the sixties, when I got to public school I was miles ahead of the other kids in the three Rs.

Ate some leftover Thai food on Christmas Day that was apparently too left over. Just started feeling human again last night. Had the flu in early November, so I'm sick of being sick! Looking forward to a healthier and happier 2019.

If you remember the Sixties, you weren't there, yet I remember the Muir Beach Acid Test. Weird.

Let's see if I can compile a list of the ailments that hit me after Chemo and radiation:
COPD
Thickened blood in chest from chemo port, so had to take blood thinners
Treatment area became infected, so antibiotics, hyperbaric oxygen treatment, and biological dressings
Depression and anxiety
Osteoarthritis
Pneumonia
Oh yeah...my hair didn't grow back.

I've also been robbed on four continents, three times by cops, been shot at four times, mortared twice and rocketed once.

...he was only 14, and staying at the same hotel, with his family, as Enrico Caruso. He said it was like the end of the world, and that everyone knew immediately that a major disaster had occurred. He and his father spent days helping put the fires out. Uncle Pierce was a neat guy, who saw a lot--the 1906 quake, the 1912 World Series, Babe Ruth's Called Shot in 1932 (he says it did really happen!), and Louis Armstrong's first night in NY City with Fletcher Henderson's band in 1924, which revolutionized music.

...the suicide of my partner, and two suicide attempts myself. And yet, I don't think I've led a particularly unhappy life. Does that say more about me, or about life...?

He aimed at my face, pulled the trigger and the bullet whizzed so close I could feel it ruffle my hair. That was 1971. He was pals with many local cops and when he claimed it was an accident, they believed him and he got away it. I fled and lived in fear of him finding me. Years afterward I heard he was badly injured in a car accident and left crippled, I felt that krama had settled the score.

Went head down in the pool, upside down with my legs/thighs caught.

Luckily, a friend saw and held my head above water so I could escape my watery death.

Scared the hell out of me

Was after a college field trip to Mexicali. No symptoms showed up right away, went on a quick weekend getaway with some friends afterwards. About two hours from home....well, not sure how I made it. But I was on my back for a few days.
