Netflix Black Mirror Bandersnatch: Yay or Nay?

Anyone else (watched? played) the interactive (movie? episode? game?) yet? However you classify it, I think it was brilliant. I’m kinda skeptical about this kind of interactive entertainment, but this was the perfect setting and story to explore it in. If you are not already a Black Mirror fan, you way want to check out some other eps first- kinda get a feel for the “world” (it’s an anthology series- some connective tissue but not serialized, so you don’t have to see every ep. That said, Bandersnatch may be a tough jumping on point)

Curious what others who have watched it thought.

A little unnerving making some of the more disturbing choices to open different endings, but my wife and I enjoyed it.

I was... nervous going into this. Black Mirror is disturbing in a regular episode... let alone one where you make choices and really give them a chance to get in your head. But it worked for me, and all things considered could have been a lot more disturbing.

It took us round in circles, repeating over and over with a slight change at the end of the recap. I honestly think it was meant to do just what the kid says in the story, a game giving you the illusion of free will, and all the time pushing you toward one ending. A total waste of an evening.

I got unnerved at some of the choices I had to make and chuckled at myself for that. I felt really responsible for what I knew was a game. And I enjoyed the somewhat ham handed philosophical treatment about free will and who's fooling whom.

And hey, the idea of creating discreet experiences of the same program is fun. All in all I appreciated what they were trying to do.

was uncertainty over having experienced all the alternative endings (I counted five).

It definitely was a brain teaser. Not really sure in the end if my selections had anything to do with the final outcome, or if giving you apparent control over the story's direction was just a way for viewers to stay involved in an otherwise dreary, boring film.

The NetFlix Windows app is unable to play it. You would think that they would have thought about that...
