Drug Tests & College Graduations.

You got to wonder. With all the College celebrations, how many kids walk into their first job just to find out the drug test is given on the first day? Anyone have anecdotes of these kind of things happening?

Kinda.

I graduated from college a whopping six days ago, and the employment I had with the hospital for which I was working--unbeknownst to me (I was promised it through August, but I had to be rehired through temp services, and then temp services slashed their budget, pulling the rug out from under me)--dried up.

I've been applying to jobs throughout the country in my field for a few months now. Nothing. But one thing I was promised was a basic summer job that pays well and will hold me over through August. I'm pretty much guaranteed it, since I worked for the same company three consecutive summers in a more high-school-student-ish capacity. Except I'll have to be drug screened on Friday.

Ain't no way the THC is going to be gone by then.

So, not really a career-type job. But still one that would safety nest me for a few months.

Read this, you'll feel better: http://norml.org/legal/drug-testing/item/drug-testing-tips. Basically, unless you were smoking Tuesday or yesterday, you're likely to pass.

5. Get the earliest morning test. Make sure you pee before you go.

Drink as much water as you can the night before. Take a leak when you get up, take another one as soon as you can, drink a full liter of water and take a multivitamin. Go test ASAP. Make up an excuse when you schedule the test about going out of town for the weekend which is why you need the early test, otherwise they might hold you in reception (I once had to wait 45 minutes and I knew I was the only person in the building other than the tester) to make sure that you have had sufficient time to build metabolites.

I know an officer in the US Army that used to pass his tests like this when he was ROTC and he was habitual.

6. Isn't one of the strategies

to do moderate to significant cardio to flush out the fat stores containing the THC, and then to stop doing exercising a couple days prior in order to stymie the out-flushing of the toxins?

God I hate getting fired.

This is the kind of situation I was worried about. I'm sorry about your bad job experience. I just see this time period where College celebration is expected, and the first job entry in a tough job market, as a recipe for disaster.

Now that you're aware of it, stay clean til Friday.

7. What about hair?

My wife went in for a job-related drug test and there was no cup to pee in - they took a lock of hair! Fortunately she's clean as a whistle, but that would be a real curveball if you were expecting a urine screen.

And incidentally - I think all random drug tests are BS.

Someone with 18 inch hair is at a major disadvantage.
