I was wondering if there were any blues/rock guitarists out there ?

(33,233 posts)Start a thread with that question, you'll probably get more or a response that way.
Do you mean that I should have put the question in the title line instead of "Howdy, new to the group?"
I knew my explanation was awkward, but I hoped you'd get it,and you did.

(531 posts)Do you think that I should restart the thread?
Swede
(33,233 posts)Or you could edit it,but this one seems to be getting attention.

I'm not (yet) but there are several musicians in the group and they will see your thread eventually.

(19,370 posts)Quite a few musicians hang out here (it is a Lounge after all ). Lots of guitarist of both the six string and bass variants, and a lot of appreciation for the Blues.
Classic Rock is well represented as well as most of the different genres up to current recordings.
Nickelback is universally despised (as they are in the real world) so post appreciation threads for them at your own risk.
Otherwise it's wide open. Lots of music knowledge and appreciation here, so jump in and add yours.

zzaapp
(531 posts)Taverner, what kind of guitar/equip do you have?
Taste in Music?
Taverner
(55,476 posts)A Fender Strat, Epiphone Les Paul, Squier Bronco Bass, Ibanez 12-string acoustic, an old AKAI analog synth with midi ports (and a ton of free soft synths I run it through) and soon to have a drum pad. I play them all, but am more of a multi-insturmentalist and not really great on any of them.
My tastes run the gamut - instead of genres I'll just list bands: Radiohead, Velvet Underground, Townes Van Zandt, Led Zeppelin, Hank Williams SENIOR, Patsy Cline, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Iggy Pop/Stooges, The Doors, The Stones, The Beatles (of course!), David Bowie, Lou Reed, Camper Van Beethoven, Phish, Grateful Dead, The Black Keyes, Black Sabbath, Sonic Youth, The Carpenters, Ludwig Von Beethoven, Kraftwerk, Neu!, Can, PiL, Frank Zappa, Belle and Sebastian, Flaming Lips, Butthole Surfers, Cowboy Junkies, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Sleater-Kinney, Allman Brothers, Fishbone, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Sam and Dave, Booker T and the MGs, Sly and the Family Stone, Bob Marley, Aswad....
And I could spend all day listing bands...

(531 posts)I'm a Fender man myself. Strat, tele, old tele set up just for slide. I play thru a Dr Z Maz 38.

(8,492 posts)I'm not a musician of any sort, but I married a blues piano player/singer and the 3 bands he plays with.
Aint it the truth? Did you know what you were getting yourself into ???

(531 posts)Let's see if I can guess. Fender tele or strat thru either a Fender, vox, or Dr. Z amp. reverb on 6.
I can hear some Knophler in your playing.
Nice vocal too.

I taught myself to play (badly) so I could keep writing.

I LOVED playing (badly) though - four or five hours a day until I gave myself painful bursitis.
