Am I hopeless? I loved both bossa nova and disco...

"The boy from Ipanema" and "Saturday Night Fever' (as did "Stayin' Alive&quot thrilled me no end.

Was I hopelessly out of date or prescient about how history would treat those two styles?

I like to think that some folks are now looking back on that whole era with a great deal of appreciation and affection...

And something to be proud of.

e·clec·tic (ĭ-klĕk′tĭk)
adj.
1. Selecting or employing individual elements from a variety of sources, systems, or styles: an eclectic taste in music; an eclectic approach to managing the economy.
2. Made up of or combining elements from a variety of sources: "a popular bar patronized by an eclectic collection of artists, writers, secretaries and aging soldiers on reserve duty" (Curtis Wilkie).

I was mid twenties when disco was in it's heyday...I used to spend EVERY Saturday nite dancing at the best disco bar in town till it closed. It was F.U.N.!!!

3 granddaughters (one graduated from college, one still in, one going in fall) and 2 grandsons (one in Cali and one in NYC). I saw my Cali grandson (my Italian speaker, Dante) in Hollywood in late October and we toured the Warner Bros. Studio Museum and I got to hold a real Oscar (it was something they did if you wanted to "receive" one, which I thought was so cool (my dtr took a picture but I didn't know how to post it here.) My dtr is the head of the costume dept. at Warner Bros and gave me a private tour. It was very cool...

BTW, Oscars are really heavy. They weigh over 8 lbs...just a little factoid you might want to know...

I especially loved going to the gay bars during that era. The girls knew I was straight, the guys didn't care and I could dance with anyone I wanted to. DJ's, lighted dance floors. . . . Good times, good times.
