As Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota people usually know, the Kwik Trip chain is popular among travelers. Kwik Trips extend as far out as St. Cloud Minnesota. The Kwik Trip on the west side of DeForest Wisconsin is recommended.

North of De Forest, you will cross the Wisconsin River and go past a major rest stop. I-90-94-39 will split into I-90-94 and I-39. Beware of people changing lanes a lot. Also, the Interstate in essence narrows a bit due to many curves for the next 20 miles, north and south of Wisconsin Dells. Keep a steady speed.

At Tomah, be an especially safe driver. The Wisconsin State Patrol has its training academy there. Also, my brother works in Tomah.

The speed limit on the interstate highway in Fargo is 55 mph. Beware.

Before you go, check to see if I-90 from Tomah, La Crosse, Rochester , Minneapolis is faster than Eau Claire, St. Paul and the northern Minneapolis suburbs.

DO NOT EXIT AT HIGHWAY 19 south of De Forest. Its a bit crowded there and you don't need a fender bender.

-----------

Once again, I recommend the Kwik Trip at Deforest, exit County VV and go right a few hundred yards.

Gas up, stretch the legs, food. alternate restaurants are near also.

Because north of there, I use all my concentration. At Deforest I can get ready for the worst ahead.

The rest stop north is very popular with truckers. Move to the center lane before you are near the rest stop. Left lane for idiots. Right lane for trucks.

----------

When you merge from I-94 at Madison to I-94-90-39 northbound, stay in your lane. You do not have to merge left immediately.

If for some reason, you are unable to merge left due to heavy traffic, thats okay. Stay in your lane. Take the exit for Sun Prairie Hwy 151, with a really long exit. Very safe. Keep going straight and you merge back onto the interstate north.

-----------

The interstate system from Janesville all the way to La Crosse and Eau Claire has had too many accidents for the liking of my company's drivers, not to mention the State Patrol. A steady speed will win the day.

So the cruise control is gonna get so utilized. Can't tell you how appreciated this is. Gonna have this thread open next to me once I get past Madison.
