I overthought the Final Jeopardy art question in today's NY Times...

I won't violate the spoiler alert rules here, but I guess having the NYT publish the question each morning is tempting.

Being an art person, I made a reach I should not have made. It had to do with a famous work of art damaged in a move. I had several ideas dancing around in my head, all wrong.

The lesson here: don't be so sure in what you think you know.

The question will be on here tonight so I won't say more.

1652 was a good clue. I would have guessed the artist correctly, but not the artwork Brother Buzz Mar 2019 #1
Yeah, 1652. That takes in a helluva lot of art: all of the Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque CTyankee Mar 2019 #2

period. And it's a "work of art" which takes in a lot of art media.

Think of the second clue about the feet of Jesus and you pretty much have it.

I THINK. I could be wrong again so stay tuned tonight.

Here is the question:

This famous work of art was damaged in 1652 when a door was cut into a wall, removing Jesus' feet.
