The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHow many US states have you visited?
Any DUers who have been to all 50? And which is your favorite?
My wife and I have been to about two-thirds of the states. Missing quite a few in the south, Alaska and Hawaii, although we're hoping to tick the latter off the list someday.
Favorite state would be Cali. Advantage of being geographically large so there's a great deal of diversity in the landscape, including giant sequoias. Such a serene location (when there's no wildfires).

But you can't beet the nostalgia of the old Yankee Stadium or Wrigley.

(22,756 posts)love Louisiana for culture... most surprising for beauty is Idaho, but they all have spots that are exceptionally beautiful... Arizona for the Grand Canyon, although I Love all the National Parks!! thoroughly enjoyed D.C. and spending time on the Mall... best out of the way restaurant was off a country road in Mississippi where we sat at card tables with oilcloth tablecloths and enjoyed plenty of homecooked southern food...
I have been extremely fortunate to have worked a job that took me to all the places I would ever want to visit in the US... sometimes I miss it, but being home in Vermont is A-OK

Not sure if I'll ever make it to all of them at this point in my life.
I suppose my current favorite is New Mexico, where I live. Great climate, a huge number of things to see and do. I've lived here ten and a half years now, and need to see much more of this state than I have.

(204,586 posts)Including Vermont, New Hampshire and Georgia. And California and Arizona in the West. The only states I visited in the middle of the country were just stops at the Chicago and Cleveland airports.
And since we're experiencing a particularly brutal New York winter, any Southern state looks very good about now. I visited Arizona for a school vacation when my grandmother spent the winter there and I've been thinking about that visit quite a lot - I always hoped to go back.
