Back when my children were young, I had a pediatrician (friend) who recommended a version of this recipe. Just a teaspoon.

As an adult, I use rum, water, lemon or lime juice, and honey to make a tea whenever I have a cough. Heat the water first, then add the other ingredients.

And I was born in the mid 50's.

I've had a cold for two weeks. Why didn't I think of doing this?
