Not all of them, just the good ones.

That poor deer had no idea what was going on. Glad the deer finally figured out going up on dry land was a good idea.

But this guy obviously knows much more about deer than I do. They are incredibly skittish. I often see deer in my neck-of-the-woods, I live near the woods and mountains and slow way down on my way home if it's after dark since that's when they're likely to be about. I've even occasionally seen them on my road - but there is no way I could ever get close enough to even take a photo. So this guy knew what he was doing, just needed to get this young one to solid ground. And seeing him/her prance off was the happy ending...

And I was paying close attention to the legs of the deer. And they seemed to be in perfectly good working order. Yay!

That man seemed to be extra careful in what he was doing. And I love that he reached out and patted the deer and the deer accepted it.

There used to be deer where I live. It was long before I moved here. I'm in a canyon, but there is now a freeway in the canyon, and hence, no more deer. I am sure it's screwed up their migratory pattern.

But we have plenty of coyotes and rattlesnakes, raccoons and bobcats. Once in a very great while a mountain lion will go through our area. I sure would love to have deer here again.

And I loved that the guy took the opportunity to pat the deer while he got the chance, probably his only chance ever!

I'm in New York, so besides the deer, we mainly see bunnies, skunks, raccoons and foxes - though a few years back there was a moose which caused quite a stir. She was safely relocated...

And it is true that the wildlife population has been impacted by the spread of population into what used to be wild areas. I once had a conversation with an older gentleman who explained that the deer tend to show up near a road I travel on my way home because there used to be apple trees in that area. I've actually looked into what kind of trees are deer-friendly since I'd like to plant some. There are still plenty of wild areas, but they're shrinking all the time...

I'm in Southern California, and unfortunately, we live by way of our freeways. Many years ago they decided one had to go through this canyon.

It was incredible here before the freeway was built. At night, I should say at dusk, you could hear every cricket, every frog, every bird in every tree. It was a symphony of nature.

Now all you hear is the freeway. I hate it.

Some years ago, there was an accident on the freeway some miles down the road, and they had to shut the freeway down for the night. All of a sudden, you could hear all those animals again, and it was wonderful. I went out and walked around all evening. I know I was still walking around at 2 a.m., because I could not believe the peace and quiet of Mother Nature. I miss it so much, and I cuss at that freeway every single day!

I may be surrounded by woods, but there's a major highway within a mile away. And it wasn't that long ago that this area was all woods. I'm not a fan of lawns and parking lots, I'd just as soon keep all the trees and prefer natural growth to a manicured lawn.

I spent part of my early childhood farther north of here. I'm just south of Lake George which is unbelievably built up, but the north end of the lake is much different. We actually lived on the side of a mountain that went straight down to the lake, so we got used to the creatures there, a skunk lived under our porch, LOL, and we were used to hearing the tree frogs at night. I know that even that area is more built up than it was, but it's still pretty far from any highway. Sounds pretty good right now - except for all the snow.

All except the skunk. And we have plenty of those where I live now. LOL.

I'm like you, would much rather let nature be nature and just live in the middle of it.

My absolute dream would be to live in the mountains with a lake nearby. Maybe someday!

Our deer have managed to stay off our neighborhood lake when it frozen, thank goodness. We see them every day in our back yard and even babies in springtime. Neighbors tell me not to feed them but
