We've experienced exactly TWO nice days this spring here in New England. And they weren't even take off your coat warm. The flowers didn't show up until well into April. We go back and forth between Boston and western Maine, so it's possible that one or the other location experienced three, maybe four nice days. But come on!!!
Of course I know about the mountains of snow in the upper midwest... But I prefer a good impressive snow storm to gloom.
What's been happening elsewhere?
Edit 4 days later: "Boston has recorded measurable rain (0.01 inches or greater) on 20 days in April. That's the record-most number of days with measurable rain in Beantown for not only April, but also any other calendar month of the year."

In the four May days since I posted we still haven't seen the sun...

(2,608 posts)So disgusted with it. It just piles-on the already depressive world we live in today.

(26,251 posts)Last week I had to mow the house lawn twice, just to keep up. This week it's been rain, rain, rain. I don't know when I'll be able to mow. And the back lot has YET to be touched by a mower. If I can't get to it, soon, I'll have to hire someone.
One up side is that my Spring blooms (Daffodils, Dutch Iris and Tulips) are slower to fade.

(14,624 posts)This past week it has been miserably hot and humid. Humidity has been in the 90s every morning. We will probably not have any nice weather again until late Septmber. By nice weather I mean when the humidity gets below 70. Summer here is brutal.

(34,095 posts)ton of people in the plains and midwest who will likely not see dirt until mid summer I would say your gloomy weather is oh so sad but not exactly tragic.

Now back to sun for the nonce. Rain and snow next week, though.

(63,221 posts)I'm ok with the temperature because I kind of like it on the cool side, although today is kind of a little too damp and chilly for me, but it's just been grey and depressing. Nothing cheers me up more than a sunny, dry spring day where the temps are in the 50's or 60's. My heart just feels so much lighter.
I honestly think we have only had about 2 or 3 nice days here as well, and not in a row. We get one good day and then it rains for a week, and even if it's not raining it's overcast and dark.
I hate it when we have a rainy, gloomy spring and then it suddenly goes into the beastly heat and humidity of summer with no break in between. I can't stand the heat and I would rather stay inside in the AC.

(63,892 posts)I am still looking for my visitors, the hummingbirds, practically all female. They come when my flowering bush by my window is in bloom and not a day earlier. It lasts but a couple of days, alas, but I really look forward to it!
