I'll be 60 in 3 days. This is proof that life is best lived while you're young.
Get and stay fit, have as much fun as possible, take risks, travel as much as you can afford, fuck as often as possible.....
and then ....when you have done all that.........
get old.
The closest I came to this sort of thing was kick surfing the inland chop while riding a boatswains chair attached to a cable strung from the top of the mast (Known as a "Topping Lift" as I just learned!) of a heeled over 38' Morgan, sailing a reach on Biscayne Bay.
What an absolute blast this looks to be.

Travel, now that you have time. Do as much as you can afford. Hell, go into debt for it! Fill your passport with stamps before you are too old to get out and do it!

(24,367 posts)I do mean it. I've been fortunate to have grown up with a father who worked for the government in a capacity that required overseas posts and accommodated his family to move with him. I lived in Saipan in the early 60's, Athens in the late 60's, Australia in the 70's and was able to travel back to Australia in the 90's as well as visit England several times. I've been through central Europe and have been in 49 of the 50 states and 5 Canadian Provinces.
I think it is of paramount importance to travel broadly, particularly overseas; to see and learn and taste and smell other cultures. We live entirely too insular lives in this country.
Walking along an avenue where the NEWEST building is 600 years old is a consciousness raising experience.
