Been waiting watching time slip through my fingers. I only got a couple weeks to find a job, so I need to be able to walk and use my hand fast.
Yup, LFR is in panic mode. So be ready to see a lot music and just silly posts as I try keep calm waiting for tomorrow.

(20,867 posts)Does the doctor have a clue as to what is going on w/you?
What test results are you waiting on?
In the meantime, take care best you can!

(6,262 posts)If so, see if you can have someone go along or be there during conversations to take notes during such stressful interactions.
I went through a horrific stretch a few years ago and I never thought I needed anyone with me at appointments or other interactions because I could still drive myself there and back without problems. Turns out --- I did.
My silent friend just listened to all of it, taking copious notes and then asked me if I had heard what she had heard. Turns out No. So then I could ask better questions and do better research.
Invaluable. Seems like you are really in a time crunch. Long shot - it may be that your medical facility has social service connections to facilitators that can help you through this scary interlude.

(6,262 posts)Take a notepad and make them stay to have you repeat back to them what you think they said. Ask what decisions need to be made for the next steps and what they recommend. Have them prioritize what comes first and if they will do it or palm it off on someone else.
If someone else, ask who and where and when and if they will make the appointment SOON given your time constraints. Write it down and make it apparent you are writing it down. If the doc skips out, tag his (and yes, if it is complicated, it usually still is a male) nurse to get the rest of the info.
The main nurse or PA linked to the Doc can be your best facilitator.
So many good vibes headed your way...

(16,371 posts)It's so hard to take in everything your doc says when you're in your position. Even if you take notes, it's hard to listen as closely as you can if you're able to replay the conversation. Bring in a written list of questions to ask and make sure you record both your questions and the answers. Ask any other questions that come up during your meeting while you're there. If she says something you want to ask about while you're there, ask her for a moment to write it down. And at the end of the meeting, even if you're sure you've covered everything, ask her if you can call or otherwise contact her with any questions you may think of afterwards.
MOST IMPORTANT -- Be very upfront and direct at the very beginning about your financial situation and your need to get a job right away. If she doesn't know whether you'll make the deadline you've set for yourself, ask her if she knows of any resources you could contact for help.
Good luck, Lady Freedom!
