It has begun! My first hummingbird of the season visited my flowering tree just after 7 pm tonight!

Like previous years she is a drab little thing, but so appreciated!

I wish a colorful male hummingbird would visit, too. I can't figure out why I only get females.

Other types of birds have also visited, along with the bumble bees (my more regular "customers&quot .

The blossoms are fading now and I can only conjecture that their nectar is sweeter as they fade...

1. put out a feeder with sugar water (no dye)..4 parts water 1 part sugar boil 1 min..

..i get them from mid march to oct..last year they left early and arrived late this year. maybe the sweeter nectar will attract males ( or bees!)

This is from two years ago (and yeah, I did have quite the mess to clean when the nestlings finally flew off, but that's ok...LOL
