He sees possible futures based on the past - the present has to lend itself to that future.

He told Jon that Jon was precisely where he needed to be. (in the past)

Daenerys had to seek her "destiny" in her way.

Every character arc along the way had to take a certain path....for turning away from a path changes your future or the future as a whole.

Arya is free from those concepts - she's going where the map stops...to the unknown. (a thought - not a declaration)

The 3 eyed raven beat the dragon with three heads. (a thought - not a declaration)

Ice won. (a thought - not a declaration)

Neither ice nor fire won. (a thought - not a declaration)

Something new was born in the time of Spring. (a thought - not a declaration...though evidence indicates that is so)

A conflict of fire and ice will forever exist inside one person only - until he dies. (Jon - a thought - not a declaration)

Death is a metaphor for ice in that the body grows cold.

The night is colder.

Winter is cold.

The Night King was a living, so to speak, metaphor for ice.

Dragons, a metaphor for fire.

All kinds of examples of fire and ice.

Winter comes and then comes Spring. Rebirth, life - new.

The Archmaester wrote a history - a history that will become an official history one day - that does not even include a pivotal player to those events. (Tyrion)

Knowing that, who knows why anything happened since the writer gets the last word on whether it even happened or not?

He's too disengaged to be a King. Monarchs need personality and ambition. In keeping with the gritty realism of the book, the best we could have hoped for is a negotiation among ambitious lords wjo choose either the strongest claimant (Jon Snow, who wasn't trying) or Sansa, as the most politically savvy forms an alliance to back her.

Choosing someone who can't have children virtually guarantees a war for succession when he dies.

She’s a house partisan. Everything she did would be to advance Stark interests. Bran transcends houses, which made him the only universal choice.

Of course there will be war. It’s primogeniture, a fucked-up system hat leads to inevitable strife.

In their eyes, Bran is a Stark and will always be a Stark. The entire series is based on that, unless you remove yourself from the game entirely. Bran did remove himself, but he came back, and that means he comes back as a Stark.

And if they couldn't agree, they either go to war again or break apart into the original seven kingdoms. Either one would have made sense.

Primogeniture actually does make some sensex which is why it was practiced so widely prior to modern times. It doesn't always produce the best leaders, but who are we to talk about bad leaders?

They mentioned that he was last seen flying east, so Bran is going to look for him the only way he knows how. Now, that would be wonderful since he can follow Arya on her quest out west.

I see Jon's and Sansa's arc closed. Wouldn't that be crazy if all this time George R.R. Martin was writing a sequel based on Arya's journey?

I'm glad Jon is back with Ghost.

Brienne is Lord Commander of the King's Guard. And she gave Jaime a gift. Writing that he died protecting his queen.

I wouldn't marry Sansa but I'm sure someone will.

Arya - free to be. Can't beat that. No role to play. No norm to uphold. No one's expectations for her.

Why they need a lord of whispers is beyond me - Bran knows all already.

I can live with this easily if we never get the rest of the books. I sure hope we do. I much preferred the books but the actors made the show so very pleasant and enjoyable.

Dany was a good bowler, and a good woman. She was one of us. She was a woman who loved the outdoors... bowling...and dragon riding, and as a dragon rider she explored the beaches of Southern Essos, from Astapor to Yunkai and up to Mereen. She died, like so many young women of her generation, she died before her time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took her, as you took so many bright flowering young women at Winterfell, at East Watch, at Braavos. These young women gave their lives. And so would Dany...Dany, who loved bowling. And so, Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Sunset Sea, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet princess.

Yeah he'd make it a fucking travesty.

It was like a great speech that just ended with the speaker mumbling platitudes and wandering offstage because they can't think of an ending that is worthy of the quality of what they have been saying. They run out of steam before the game is over.

I had expected either Jon or Daenerys to die. When it was Dany, I figured Jon might end up in the Night's Watch.

Didn't think Bran would end up King.

Got emotional when the Starks were all saying good bye to each other at the end and then when Jon reunited with Ghost.

Bran is still young, so should have decades to rule as king - maybe he becomes the new Brandon the Builder?

Liked the small council at the end with Sam, Brienne, Bronn, Davos and Tyrion. Davos and Ser Barristan were maybe my two favorite overall characters from the books.

Does Sansa end up marrying a northern Lord or will she marry somebody from the 6 Kingdoms? I can't see her with Bronn, and Gendry is probably still pining for Arya... Robin Arryn is probably still a little boy to Sansa. Edmure Tully is her uncle.

and whoever created her costumes, especially the past two seasons, did right by her in creating such a strong imposing figure from someone so small of stature. Costuming and cinematography have always been exceptional for GOT, but has only gotten better.

Ditto with Arya and her costumes, who remains my favorite female character and an overall favorite all around.

I mean... what was the point of all the political intrigue when a DRAGON with unlimited firepower can destroy everything? Or when a vapor can come out of somebody's vagina and kill a king?

White Walkers? LOL. Gimme a break. Tolkien >>>> Martin.

114. Some fans just can't let it go: "Daenerys' fate is the biggest 'GOT' plothole" (NYPOST)

Daenerys’ fate is the biggest ‘Game of Thrones’ plot hole

Game of Thrones” is over, and Daenerys Targaryen is dead. But is she?
Before you roll your eyes, fans of the show love conspiracy theories about characters not truly being dead. Plenty thought Jaime and Cersei Lannister somehow managed to escape a castle falling on them in Season 8’s “The Bells,” until we saw their bodies in the series finale. --snip--

But whether or not the writers intended this, the ending of the story is ambiguous. Sure, Jon stabbed her. She’s definitely dead. Still, there’s a major plot hole, and that’s the existence of Red Priests. It’s been established that they have the power to resurrect people — see Jon Snow and Beric Dondarrion. It’s also been established that they’re just as interested in Daenerys as they were in Jon. Remember in Season 6, when Red Priestess Kinvara (Ania Bukstein) showed up to establish that she’s all in on Team Dany?
That scene was never revisited, and Kinvara has not shown up again. It’s also never been mentioned that she’s dead — so she’s still out there somewhere in Essos. --snip--

If “Game of Thrones” wanted us to stop considering resurrection, it needed to kill the Red Priests. And it didn’t do that. It also didn’t destroy Dany’s body, but rather had her dragon fly her away.

What’s to stop him from taking her to Kinvara?

So there ya go... For some, "hope" springs eternal.
