1. (starting easy) Excalibur

2. Zulfiqar

3. Anduril

4. Tizona

5. Sting (mutliple valid answers)

6. Needle

7. Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi

8. Nandaka

9. Joyeuse

10. Durendal

Use me as a low performer.

I had 1, 9, 10 solid.
Knew 2 by context and sight, but not name of owner.
The LotR and GoT references sb fairly easy for followers. ( I got one right from LotR. Did not watch GoT.)

The remainder are hard, but not truly impossible. If this is for typical pub teams, it should give a good challenge.

It was in the excerpts we read in a couple of semesters of literature in French at UNC. (The benefits of a liberal arts education. Those were required courses!) My first wife was also a Romance languages medievalist, so I was around a lot of that stuff when she was working on her graduate degrees.

I had The Hobbit on record when I was little. Bilbo says "Sting, Sting, Stinnnnnngggg" at some point. It got embedded in my brain.

Haven't been into more recent fantasy stories, so anything but the LotR ones I draw a blank. So I get 3.
