What empty suit approved this? It's as embarrassing as it gets. I can't think of another commercial as irritating or unappetizing (the food looks terrible). I don't want to eat there. I don't want to step foot in there. Wienerschnitzel ... yuk!

2. "by da book, by da boom" (or something like that) commercial for

hotels or motels. It was annoying the first time we saw and heard it. Months later, it is still on TV, about every 10 minutes. Sounds like a gangster talking. Just plain awful.

But on the other side, the past year has seen some great commercials that feature animals.

4. I hate all those commercials aimed at retirees. So many of them are

shown as having a beach right outside their front door or some such nonsense. And the medicine works wonderfully but then watch out for the side effects, cancer and death.

Not having a regular TV means I don't see commercials. I know, I'm incredibly deprived.

It's one of the reasons I encourage people to give up TV. You can still watch most, maybe all of what you want to watch, via subscription services or on line.

Imagine no commercials.
It's easy if you try.

No one to cry
Imagine all the people living without ads.

That's my poor attempt at rewriting John Lennon's lyrics. But really, the best part of not having regular TV really is no commercials. And as we head into campaign season, that's even more welcome.

I have really noticed some things lately.....
The number of ads featuring dogs, even damn Wells Fargo (hate them). But is it Suburu that has the driving Golden Retrievers? Those are pretty good.
Hate the Liberty commercials, and the badabook badaboom guy.

I've also noticed a big uptick in ads showing bi-racial couples/families, and a few featuring gay couples. Its a start.
