(4,338 posts)But the first time I saw him, in The Office, after about 2-3 episodes, I couldn't believe how he made me feel so uncomfortable for someone. I mean, of course I would say to myself, b ut it's just a tv program, but he still managed it.
Then, Extras, Derek, again, he would provoke these emotions. Derek in particular, was, for me, so amazingly emotional.
After Life did the same, but even moreso, because it felt a little closer to home for me. I lost my brother to cancer, I had cancer and survived, I have an amazingly beautiful, patient, smart wife who I love like no other and who in turn loves me the same.
He manages to get you to think in raw terms, and as abrasive, or offensive as his characters can be, it comes from a place that is well intentioned.
Not sure if that makes sense to anyone, but just my 2 cents.
