What's with Reese's Peanut Butter cups? (and related products)????My gawd, they have incorporated into every form, every size, crossed over with tons of other products (e.g, hershy's bars, other manufacturer's easter eggs, mini cups, eggs, crispies, pieces, and now a big promotional campaign for, wait for it...
Have they been losing market share? What gives? Seems they are more ubiquitous than any other candy right now...? (and yes, I'm a fan, but, really? )

Far better quality peanut butter and chocolate and price point wise excellent....
Oh - and their Almond Butter Cups are to die for....
That's what's happened to the Reese's dwindling market share and them needing to pull every marketing gimmick known....

Far be it from me to advise on marketing, I guess.

(5,507 posts)Well known brands have started crowding out competition by dominating shelf space. They release all kinds of permutations of the product to the point of ridiculousness.
It is nominally to introduce choice and renew interest in a languishing product. But really I think it is about crowding out competition.
Oreo is the most egregious. M&Ms as well. Both Coke and Pepsi do it also

I could maybe understand the thin cookie craze because there's a tiny value to wanting to crunch something but THIN candy? No.

(13,880 posts)I work at a store that sells this shit by the ton. The candy companies are all fighting for shelf display space by trying to appeal to every potential customer. By the way, what size do you want? Grab n go, fun size, sharing size, family size, party size?
I'm nauseated.
