Listened to 2 Minutes of Xtian Talk Radio

They got my attention by mentioning how scientists had discovered a galaxy 50 billion light years away. I thought it would be about science, so I listened. Then came the part about how science relies on "exaggeration and conjecture". I was dumbfounded for a few seconds, and then I turned the station.

What gets me is that all the progress made in the last 1,000 years gets thrown out the window when it comes to religion, and this is what RW radio has been spewing for decades? No wonder listeners are so incredibly thick!

5. I just don't understand why

Maybe because accepting an extremely narrow view of the world is easier? I guess they are afraid of reality, and this is their way of controlling it. Shun reality! That way it can't get you.

from chimpanzees and gorilla, then their whole Christian belief system would collapse.

These people make me think that wasn't such a huge leap.

My aunt is one of the true believers. I remember she said once, "You don't believe we are descended from apes, do you?" I didn't want confrontation, so I just nodded.

8. It's a faith test. When the followers commit to nonsense, they are owned.

There is an old story about an atheist pointing out ridiculous parts of the Bible to a believer.

The believer laughed and replied "Of course it's hard to believe. That's why they call it faith".

The followers are brainwashed.

I think that covers how it happens.

13. They are essentially a Death Cult

noun
noun: death cult; plural noun: death cults
a fringe religious group that glorifies or is obsessed with death.

I hate when people try to give them some deeper meaning or higher calling, they're a death cult. They want to die...so don't ever expect a rational decision out of their head.

They want misery (for some) so that they can declare that End Times are Nigh. The kicker is the ones who are selling this nonsense to the fools, don't believe any of it. I personally know a very rich family who has been in this con game for three generations. They see it as an act they play and a job they do for pay.

They are weak and need a daddy. Thats why they love authoritarians, no matter how stupid, like trump to tell them what to do.

7. 50 billion light years

That is four times beyond the furthest known galaxy we have observed (13 billion light years). We can't observe beyond the Big Bang (14 billion light years).

10. Maybe he said 15 (rounding up) instead of 50?

Either that or HE was exaggerating. It's easier to discredit science when you don't get the facts right.

That's the age of the universe, according to some fundie xtians.

Anything that appears older than that is an illusion presented by Satan, don't you know.

it the Tree of Knowledge that Adam and Eve were punished for because they ate from it? That's all you need to know to understand the stupidity and dumbfuckery of christianity.

15. I take issue with that story

I have always understood it to mean that Adam and Eve made the right choice, the one they were supposed to make.

Anyway, I do understand your point. I'm just adding my heretical exegesis to drive that point home.
