Rescued Pit Bull Convinces His Mom To Adopt Their Foster Kitten

Who could say no to those eyes? 🐕😍

BY CAITLIN JILL ANDERS

Sterling had already had a pretty rough life when his mom rescued him at 4 and a half weeks old. She knew the little abused pit bull puppy needed as much love and attention as possible to right the wrongs that had been done to him, and as the days went on, she helped him transform into the sweetest, most confident dog.

“He was so small. I was bottle-feeding him regularly,” Bethany Leigh, Sterling’s mom, told The Dodo. “He had giant scars across his chest and legs. With lots of work and love and training, he has become so sweet and loving.”

Leigh has always been a huge advocate for animals, and has helped rescue and foster all kinds of animals from different situations. Taking cues from his mom, Sterling plays his part too, and has grown into the best foster brother for every animal in need who passes through their house. He especially loves fostering kittens, and bonds with each one in the sweetest way.

When Leigh found a tiny kitten, later named Lux, in a McDonald’s parking lot a few months ago, she scooped him up and brought him home — and for some reason, Sterling fell more in love than ever before with his tiny new foster friend.

At first, Lux was afraid of his new dog foster brother, but with a lot of patience and love, Sterling was soon able to win him over. Before long, the pair were inseparable, doing every possible thing together all day long.

“When we’re in the backyard and I let Lux explore, if he goes too far or starts to climb the tree I tell Sterling to go get his kitty, and he runs to find him,” Leigh said. “They snuggle and nap together, they both love balls and toys, they love our backyard and play together back there.”

As the weeks wore on, it was clear that Lux fit in so well with his new foster family. He even bonded with Leigh’s 2-year-old daughter, who happens to be Sterling’s other best friend. Sterling loved protecting and nurturing his new baby brother, and it was hard to imagine what would happen when Lux finally got adopted and had to leave.

The more time the pair spent together, the closer they got, and before long, Leigh realized that there was no way they could give Lux up to another family — and so thanks to Sterling, Lux officially became a foster fail.

Now the adorable pair are officially brothers, and they couldn’t be happier about it. They both had rough starts to life and seem to understand each other, and there’s no doubt that they’ll be best friends for the rest of their lives.
