Meet my feline nephew, Dude

He's spending a couple of weeks with me and Sophie Stinky Toes, while my brother is out of town. He's cool with Sophie. She's still deciding if she's cool with him. So, Dude is living in the screened in porch/sun room, for now and I'm splitting my time between there and everywhere else. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and they will become best friends. Or, at least she will tolerate his presence. He really is a big old softie. One of the sweetest cats I've ever known.

Neutered females, not so much (in my humble experience). So she will tolerate him, but I doubt you'll see them cuddling together any time soon.

They were staring at each other, through the glass door, a while back. Dude is a very, very mellow cat and probably weighs about 15+ lbs. Sophie is half his size and not particularly feisty. Dude is about 8 and Sophie is about 11 (both are rescues).

I'll be happy with any behavior that doesn't involve aggressive use of teeth and claws or require me to move fast. (I'm hobbling from a twisted knee and broken toe.) Fortunately there is plenty of room for them to ignore each other.

17. Is she Welsh?

We met up with my husband's friend in Bath, England on our honeymoon. He drove us into Wales so we could say we were there. Took a picture with a sign that said Croeso i Gymru, which I'm told means welcome to Wales in Welsh. Had that dragon! Sophie Stinkytoes is very cute.

I love the name Sophie, and when it came to mind, she was sitting in front of me, cleaning her toes. So, the inspiration took root.

My brother named Dude because of his laid back demeanor. He really is the most mellow cat I've ever encountered.
