The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsYesterday I told over 2,000 people my opinion of our so-called President.
Only 30 people finished behind me in a 5K race with 2224 finishers, but that's not bad for an old woman with replaced hips, shoulder, and knee, and I beat my previous time.
I didn't plan it until I saw the finish line and the cameras. As I crossed and my name was announced, I threw my arms in the air and yelled FUCK TRUMP!
It got the reception I was hoping for, from the mostly young crowd. I basked in the applause. 😄

(32,528 posts)8 years ago the doctor told me I'd never run again after I hurt my knee. I said go ahead and replace it if I could run again. He said I still would never run again.
Will turn 70 in a few months and now run 3 to 5 miles 5 or 6 days a week and feel great. Plan on running my first 5K. Started out at 16 and 17 minutes mile. Now doing 11 to 12 minute miles.

(4,646 posts)You run a lot more than I do, and I'll never break a 15-minute mile. But I have many medals, because when you're over 70, there are seldom more than three in your category. One time I was the only woman over 70, and got a first-place medal! I figure I deserved it for showing up. Lol
In five years when I turn 80, I expect to come in first all the time. 😊
Many people say their doctors forbid running after replacements. I belong to a group called HipRunners, for people with hip replacements, and some of them run marathons.
You are a dedicated runner! Good luck with your 5K, I'm sure you will do very well.

(1,642 posts)Both for the running and the yelling!
I once asked my doctor about taking up running. I am 6'8" and he said that I should stick to walking because running is hard on the knees for tall people. So I will do that and ride my bike too.

(120 posts)I am in my 50's and still running marathons and ultra's. I'm not fast anymore but I'm still running and enjoying it. When people ask me what my time was I used to tell them and I would get the " that seems slow" so now when people who didn't run the race or don't run at all ask me what my time was my response every time is " What was your time". I am running a race in Sept and I had a tech shirt made with the baby trump balloon on the front and "Fuck Trump" on the back!! I hope I get the same response. I might get get kicked out of the race in it is Montana.

(4,646 posts)If they say you can't wear it, turn it inside out, and then back again as you approach the finish line. 👍

(14,154 posts)That should be a battle cry going forwards.
Democrats used to have to walk a fine line because there has always been a deferment to "civilised" slogoneering. Lest we upset those Christians and others in the moderate camp. Both Democrats and Republican.
No more.
I want to see those sanctimonious hypocrites who voted for that degenerate asshole squeel. Opening their mouths to protest and then realizing they have no recourse because the leader they cherish is one of the most foul mouths in America.
