yes, all of you were right. I posted a thread a while back about what babysitters charge and I was shocked at the numbers. Well, I have three good families now and have been babysitting pretty regularly. Even though I asked for $10/hr, I average $20 to $25 and once was paid $30 an hour! For playing with kids which I love and would do for free. The majority of the time, the kids are asleep.That is not much fun so I just sit with the dogs and read.

I have told them it's too much $ but they just smile and say they appreciate it. All but once I've been paid via paypal so it's hard to hand the money back.

When I was 16 ( back in the early 70s) ... the woman across the street from us paid me 50 cents an hour to watch 5 active kids!

I asked if I could keep them up a little later last night and the kids held on until 9. I don't want to leave the parents with cranky kids but I also want to get some play time in.

3. I pay fifteen bucks an hour

for doggy-sitting. I have a high schooler who is a prize. I often pay more because I know my babies are safe and with someone they adore. I know this by the speed of the tail when they see Luci.
