In the 70's I lived ne'er Crystal River and would scuba dive there in the river where spring water would enter the river through cracks and caves--very cold water, don't think the manatees liked the cold water that much.

It seems like we read about these manatee escapades every year. I could understand it if lemmings were a close relative but these big guys must have a poor sense of size limits or they are very curious. On the other hand, they may be looking for a way off the planet and for that I have to say, I find them most intelligent for the effort.
