Otherwise, I dont see how the sweeter nectar would benefit the plant.

(2,146 posts)Because they return to the hive and communicate the basic information about what they found, like how far away it is and how abundant the resource. I'm less sure whether there's a layer of information about the quality but wouldn't surprise me. Certainly should make it more likely to generate repeat business

Now I know something more about what's going on between the bees and the hollyhocks and lavender!
