Egg sandwich, grilled cheese with a nice hot bowl.of tomato soup, tuna sandwich. Those were my mainstays when I was single and in college.
I never managed to adapt to the quintessential american peanut butter and jelly. Must be a cultural thing. I was born in France and spend the first 20 yrs of my life there.

I've lived longer than that in the states as a US citizen but I have yet to assimilate fully since I dont like pb&j 😥

Also the Reuben, and a plain old chicken sandwich.

Not sure if this quite counts as a sandwich, but lox and cream cheese on a plain bagel is quite delicious, too. Especially with a few capers.

Egg salad makes me gag. When I was a kid, my mom would have us help her make a week’s worth of sandwiches for our brown bag lunches every Sunday evening - a sandwich assembly line. She’d freeze them, and every morning we’d pack one which would thaw by launch time. Egg salad does NOT freeze well and the soggy white bread did not help - A particularly heinous combination was when she would send cream of vegetable soup in my thermos. I was always embed to just dump it in the trash, but I was afraid she would somehow know I was doing that and I’d be in trouble.

Deviled eggs, however, are just fine

And make the ham a ham and swiss cheese sandwich.

And personally, I'm not so fond of a Reuben, but I love a hot pastrami sandwich.

Yeah, sandwiches are great.

About a decade ago I was on a VERY tight budget, and packed a pb&j sandwich for work, even though I got an employee discount in the cafeteria of the hospital I worked in. When necessary, it is possible to eat very cheaply.

From Franklin Giant in Hartford.

Anyone who has had one from there would rate it number one.

But I would add grilled ham and cheese, tuna melt, and Philly cheesesteak. Hey-I like melted cheese!
