Just watched final episode of ShowTime's The Loudest Voice (Ailes and Fox with Russell Crowe)...
(My neighbor still gets advance copies of a few programs due to her previous work and she passes along anything she's not going to watch immediately)..
So, in advance of tonight's airing, I'll leave my impressions (no spoilers, if there really are any for this kind of show)...
Once again, Crowe's performance was definitely Emmy-winning, IMO. I actually feel a need to see him in real life to wash the "Ailes" away. I would bet he wanted to do so too. Very well acted though.
As to the manner of covering the sexual harassment and Ailes' ultimate removal, it made clear Murdoch (and especially his son's) pragmatism and their smart use of lawyers to represent NewsCorp, rather than Ailes. That part was somewhat (though minimally) hopeful for prospects once Murdoch eventually moves on to join Ailes in what one can only hope is an unpleasant realm.
Ailes' ultimate downfall was not as cathartic as I'd hoped, given it coincided with Ailes' clear help in creating the Trump disaster--which ironically only ensured Fox's survival despite Ailes' damage.
So, while the show was well produced and well-acted, it certainly didn't leave me on any kind of "high note". Still, I'd recommend other DUers watch it if you can. It makes a lot of things crystal clear--even those that you probably already knew/suspected.
