There's a special place in hell for whoever invented the automatic update system.

Seriously I have had not one but two PCs and my laptop crash because of automatic Windows 10 updates. And the one on my laptop is taking forever to apply. It's maddening....

10. Set your phone for automatic updates over cellular service (not WiFi).

Then leave your phone on at night, just turn off all the sounds and vibrate.

Then it will automatically update after midnight.

Windows 10 freaking-updates!!!

It was days of freezing, losing my mouse function and crashing. And no Control-Alt-Delete. I shut it down manually more than 20 times. What's weird is that when I finally found the fix - a 10 step process - it appeared to self correct. Go figure.

I was fortunate enough to not have anything due during that period. I hope you're up and running soon.

I finally got my laptop back, but that was a nightmare. Took almost an hour and a half to install. Argh. And then my computer that I use to stream media crashed because of an update and I had to reset my wifi router.

Ruined my whole night.

7. I've 3 PC's with W10 and none have ever 'crashed' from a W10 update ...

Not even my desktop that's a nearly 10 year old install, upgraded from W7, with an unsupported by W10 configuration (entire Users directory moved to the D: drive during original W7 install) has ever crashed.

The thing that DOES piss me off though ... is that unsaved files in SQL Server Management Studio (one of their own freaking programs, and a premier one at that)... will not make the process (which will just randomly up and run in the middle of the night as we all know) abort. It just nukes 'em and shuts the PC down. Which has screwed me MANY times.

9. That darned MS update seems to be the culprit that kills off my Google Chrome default browser

but safety value Edge and Firefox browsers seem unaffected. Depending on what changes it's made, I've had to uninstall and reinstall instead of just a reboot and restoration of stuff more than once.

imagine how us poor little old not tech savvy folks feel.

I agree very frustrating. Iphone, Ipad say they must be on to install update. So I leave it on overnight. In morning it says download unsuccessful! Aaaaahhhhhh!

Nothing more frustrating than shutting down laptop at 5p Friday - headed for the weekend - and getting the update screen and message: applying updates do not turn off computer

and there I sit - watching the % climb slowly (slowly, slowly) to 100
