...so usually I don't have a problem making returns but today i had a package of Juul Virginia Tobacco
pods that I decided not to use (the same type of pod came with their starter kit and it's really harsh and that helped me decide NOT to inhale the vape vapors (of any flavor, though the mint is ok).
When I went into the store I presented my return to the greeter and she went through several interesting motions/scans of the product, then I went to the returns area with the product and the receipt. When I finally talked to a clerk he had to confer with his partner and the response was that there was no refund on tobacco products. I gently but firmly told him that no Juul product contains any tobacco. Well, that didn't matter, so in the face of this corporate stonewalling I reminded the clerk that there are other places where I can shop. That got a shrug out of him, but I have good information that all verbal exchanges between customers and clerks are recorded by WalMart so that'll show them!
Then I went to the one register that handles tobacco products to see if I could buy some other, milder flavors of pods. Nope, none available, sorry... Again I reminded that clerk that I knew other places to shop and went on to continue my regular WalMart shopping.
On the way home I stopped at a local tobacco shop and they had a large variety of pod flavors for the Juul vaper so I picked up some. So far so good, and again WalMart loses a portion of my business.
Somehow I don't think that worries them at all!

(28,072 posts)Many years ago a friend gave me a copy of "Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince" as a birthday present. As it happened, I'd already read it so she gave me the Walmart receipt so I could exchange it.
The clerk at the "customer service" counter told me books could not be returned (the receipt was 2 days old & the book was in pristine condition). I asked for the manager. After several minutes (during which time no few than 3 people stopped at the counter to complain about the condition of the women's bathroom) the manager arrived.
"You can't return or exchange a book." She told me. I asked why. "It's a violation copyright laws," she said. "So, " says I, "when Barnes & Noble provides a gift receipt, they're violating copyright laws?" She couldn't speak for B&N.
So, now I'm just annoyed that I'm being lied to & I really don't care if I get to exchange the book of not. I pull out my phone and tell her that I have a friend who is a lawyer at West Publishing & I just may have ask him about this copyright song & dance.
Heavy sigh from from the manger and, all right, just this once she'll make an exception & let me exchange the book.
I never was much of a Walmart shopper & this was the last time I ever set foot in one.
