I suspect the OP posted it to make the point that most "rape prevention" guidelines are aimed at women-- Don't get drunk, don't walk alone at night, carry a whistle....

This is meant to say, it is not the job of women to prevent rape.
It's was not meant as a serious reminder for DU men, but an ironic point that society (and law enforcement, and schools, and helpful people) constantly put the responsibility for preventing rape on potential victims.

Women have been being told for centuries how to prevent rape by limiting their activities and freedom and ambitions.
And that doesn't work, and sets up any victim who "breaks one of the rules" to be blamed for her own assault. We know that.
This is a way to turn the tables and make people think about how rape is caused by rapists, not by women doing something "wrong" like drinking or walking.

I'm not sure that anyone should take offense at that. It's a thought experiment, and a good one. It made me remember receiving the "Don't do these normal things, women, if you don't want to be raped" type of pamphlet in the orientation materials at three universities and even a couple jobs. Now THAT was offensive.

16. Oddly enough, people (on DU) have complained about rape PSAs in the recent past

and stated emphatically that they were offended by them. Not offended by the "pile on" you allege, but by the very existence of rape PSAs.

And, as 15-20% of all American women have been raped at least once (Prevalence, Incidence, and
Consequences of Violence Against Women: Findings From the National Violence Against Women Survey by Patricia Tjaden), I don't think "we all know not to rape someone" is a very accurate statement.
