i know for a fact that it works well for this.
i had a patch in my yard that took years and a couple dozen chickens to get rid of.
one time i pulled up a bunch, and left it where i dropped it for a while.
my curious pup, a 7 mo big bulldog, decided they made a great chew toy. he was such a good dog that he did not once deliver that effect in the house. but it took us several days to figure out what was giving him absolutely liquid poop.
cleaned up the crunchy stalks and he was better the next day.

this seems just mean to me, not to mention irresponsible of them.

I, for one, pull that crap out. Terribly invasive and nearly impossible to rid yourself of....

And then there is this article that talks about suicide over the plant’s existence on people’s property. https://slate.com/technology/2019/05/japanese-knotweed-invasive-plants.html
