We got him at the Oregon Humane Society when he was 10. Here's the deal.

We had a Jack Russell before, little Murphy, who lived to about 15. His quality of life was almost gone in late 2013, so we tearfully sent him across the rainbow bridge. It was so difficult, we felt that we wouldn't be able to get another dog, and go through that again.

Well, we had some special food left over from Murphy's diet, and I had the idea to donate it to the Humane Society. They were delighted to get it, of course, and I thought that while I was there, I would just go back and look at the doggies ready for adoption. Joey was there, had been there about a week, and he kind of squeaked at me, and gave me that look, you know the one.

I didn't take him home, but I told my wife about him, and she immediately wanted to go see him. So we did. After a visit with Joey for a few minutes, he decided he wanted to rescue US. So we brought him home, and we've been spoiling him rotten for six years. What a little treasure.

Thanks for posting.

or at least one of them passes on. We are too old to take on another 15 year responsibility so a senior dog would fit well. But what concerns me is the potential cost of medical care for a senior dog. We are not poor but we are retired on a modest income.

He's still learning about snuggling in our bed at night, because he lived in a cage before this. He still pees and otherwise in place that are not outside, but that is changing. He really wants to be up in our laps and in our hearts at all times. Our other two dogs are teaching him a lot about how the back door, couch and water dish work. All get along with each other.
