The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHey Lounge Wimmens, I need advice about shoes!
I need some comfy, flat, decent looking dress shoes. Im old enough and achy enough to really want comfort. Im tired of wearing the lace-ups with nice pants. I dont hate Mary Janes but dont love them either.
Hit me with some ideas!

(29,098 posts)They are pricey but Munros work really well for me as I have very high arches and wide wide feet. Their flats can be dressed up or can go with casual outfits as well. I do have some Clarks and Hushpuppies that do well in a pinch but I always seem to grab my Munros when I know I'll be on my feet or need a dressy flat.
Speaking of spendy shoes...Has anyone tried Tieks? I'm curious enough to start saving for them but curious if they would provide enough support and stretch for a wide foot.

(41,936 posts)Ive got the odd combo of bunions (though they dont hurt, my toes have just shifted) and a longer second toe, making shoes EVERYBODY loves like Dansko and Birkenstocks impossible to wear. I like Easy Spirit but their dress shoes are butt ugly. 😄

(55,004 posts)no flipping idea, hope I never need any again. mostly go barefoot, but for going to town I wear men's keens sandals. in winter I might put socks on too.
years ago I had some almost ok looking shoes I got in Germany (though I think they were actually Canadian) that were also mens shoes but you know how European men can be, so I called them my German mens lesbian shoes. I think the brand name was Berkaman or something like that. leather, sort of clog like with a heel strap (Birkenstock-ish, but better looking to me)

(5,810 posts)I think they make another brand (but are from the Rockport brand) called something like Cobb Hill. They are well made and have good support. If you live where there is a Shoe Station they have lots of the brands mentioned on this thread and the prices are pretty good, too. Check for coupons on line to save 20%.

(3,413 posts)they fit well (size 11), come in either medium or wide width, lots of cushioning on the inside, and are comfortable right out of the box. Even better, they are very affordable and are available at J C Penney. These are similar to what I bought two years ago:

(4,178 posts)I don't know if they have dressy flats, but a lot of nice sandal type flats that have support and are very comfortable. I get mine from Zulilly online,Zappis has them.

(31,374 posts)which I've bought for travel shoes. Have worn them in Europe--walking a lot--with trousers and skirts. Have worn them in New York. Good for walking in any city.
Here's a sample available at DSW: https://www.dsw.com/en/us/brands/anne-klein/N-1z12eay
Skechers also makes comfortable flats which I've worn for travel, too. They're not quite as dressy as some of the Anne Klein flats.

Look for a DSW store near you by scrolling to the bottom of either of those pages and click on store finder.

(41,936 posts)So I have to try them on. I love DSW. It's more of a schlep now I've moved but still doable on a day I can just spend the time.
