Wife & I celebrated 20 year Anniversary yesterday-tad bittersweet can't help it sometimes.....

We are both oddballs and loners before we met. In most eyes it is a minor miracle we found each other and I totally agree.

We had a nice day trip to Long Beach Washington and a sit down Mexican dinner last week as we knew the financial hammer was coming down as of yesterday. I'm disabled & my wife works. 2 girls & the youngest turned 18 last month.

This meant I lost almost 1/3 of my SS benefits as the girls were no longer eligible-but they are still very much alive & eating. We may qualify for food stamps I've already applied. And one daughter just started college & has a part time job. The other has held jobs but suffers from near debilitating depression. She's now getting treatment & is doing very well but not getting replies on her job applications.

So we are struggling-but we'll get by.

That night-a serious clatter sounded off-I thought the blender was coming apart. Nobody using the blender it was our 3 YO washing machine-toast.

Thank goodness we had just enough in savings to solve it but there goes our safety margin at the worst time.

Just bitch & moan and thanks if you read this far-

GE washer that failed-after 3 years 1 month-crap!

I share your concerns regarding judicious use of dwindling resources. Who knew I would live this long?

And my wife got her favorite Mexican food so we both had a very good time.

My 2 girls were given a 1/3 of our bottle return $ -about $25.00 each while at the "Museum" & curious shop where Jake is kept. Awesome place if you like old stuff everywhere and I do.

My girls were huddled over a Dragon curios for sale display conspiring-they bought my wife a nice dragon on a crystal piece. That darn near brought my wife to tears & I was very impressed. I have some very good girls.

Just if the dang washing machine had not self destructed-that would have been nice.

Cheers.

Very sorry about your luck with the planned obsolescence on the washer...hope you have many happier days and another happy 20 years with your wife! It is criminal that "durable" goods are no longer durable or good...
