(70,497 posts)If somebody gets an Oscar for playing Judy, bummer that Judy only got a juvenile one (although, that's unique in itself). Plus that ice cube Grace KELLY took one instead.
What I'm referring to is that for about two solid months, Renee was trotted out there campaigning totally heavily - so early before the awards season even starts. I'm just anecdotal, not scientifically documented, but I've never seen such *saturation* publicity like for Renee/Judy.
That said, whenever The Greats are mentioned, Ms GARLAND is frequently/always included as the Standard. (Some things can't be bought with a trophy, I'm talking to YOU/Peter O'TOOLE!1 )
***********ON EDIT: How times have changed: She was regarded as a bum druggie whatever. Yet now that we understand addiction and abuse of victims by perpetrators (yes, and by themselves), we can make accommodations, such as when a DUer explained to me the meaning of Sia's "Chandelier" being her drug/alcohol and boyfriend's suicide, etc. In Judy's day, things were classified as degenerate.
