4. In 1989 my sister had a serious heart attack.

She was living in Los Angeles at the time. She wound up in a cardiac rehab class with . . . Ella Fitzgerald. She said it was pretty much worth the heart attack.

9. I had the great pleasure of seeing Ella live in the late 1980s...maybe 1987 or 1988

at Sea World in San Diego. It was just her, a piano (Oscar Peterson), Bass (Ray Brown I think) and percussion (I can't remember who). What an amazing group of musicians. One of the highlight concerts of my life.
