I'll select, like, a video about tanks or something, and the preceding ad has this oily music that sounds like it's accompanying a porn video! My wife will think I'm watching porn! Sheesh, advertisers! Use classical music like everyone else?

As to the ads -- before the Ky Governor's election, I had to put up with ceaseless lying ads from Mr Beven telling me how great he'd been for Kentucky. I'll take a porn soundtrack over that any day.

(66,316 posts)I was a tanker in the Army, so it's kind of a fascination. I'm running out of tank videos to watch on YouTube; I've seen just about all of them...
In a way, tanks are like porn for me...

Tanker Heaven. (At least in terms of the history of tanks, etc. As tank country, it sucks. The gluey, clay-like mud was murder to drive through in the wet season, and hell to wash off when getting back from the field. The best tank country I ever trained in was at a Canadian Army base in northern Alberta.)

(17,187 posts)From what I understand from wargames, the Fulda Gap is supposed to be pretty fair going.
Deserts are best, though. Well, except for the dust.

(66,316 posts)I did Grafenwoehr twice and Hohenfels twice.
I was deployed to the Gulf in 1991, but we didn't serve in combat. We did do a desert tank training exercise for five days (the ground war began and ended while we were out there...) and the desert is terrific tank country, other than having to clean out the air filters frequently due to the powdery Saudi sand.
