(19,459 posts)Driving a jeep on a pitch black night. Suddenly, my headlights lit up a humongous wild boar planted firmly in the middle of the road. She stood there, facing me off, until three of her youngsters had crossed the road behind her. Then she trotted off after them.
No doubt about who was the boss of the road that night.

(22,250 posts)They call them animaljams in the park literature.
they absolutely take their time on moving and they love to stand horizontally across the roads.
Certain parts of the park have elk jams

(1,990 posts)Sometimes in New England, we see flocks of geese who have briefly interrupted their migrations to stop here for a while, usually near a river. Once I was in traffic while a flock of about 20 geese crossed in front of the cars. They walked very carefully and slowly - in single file. Eventually they allowed the cars to move again.

(102,234 posts)for a line of geese and sometimes their young. I've been gratified to see drivers being patient and almost reverential, especially when it sometimes comes at "bad" times of day.
I will stop for them and enjoy watching them anytime. Life is too short. We need to enjoy these pauses of nature.
