The younger ones will usually take off...but the big momma looks at me like I am bothering her

(86,536 posts)they should have used bear spray. The bear needs to learn that humans are trouble. Also, I don't see any protective fencing around the garden. Eventually that bear will be killed a t a young age because now it will think it's fun to hang out there. It only takes one instance of positive reinforcement for a bear to learn it has a fun place to go. Bear learn tricks with treats, the lesson: you gave it treats. Same with any positive experience a bear has interacting with humans subjects the next humans it encounters with expectations of similar rewards from them which is what will get the bear killed.
