(1,812 posts)...it's been awhile, but it would happen on the edge of sleep and make me think "Was that real, or EHS?". Less than 10 episodes I can remember.

(16,376 posts)It terrified me. I heard talking and laughing, always male voices, although I couldn't understand what was being said. I can remember sleeping with one ear on the pillow and a finger in my other ear, for years. Guess I thought that helped. It slowly stopped. I also slept-walked and had nighttime hallucinations as a child. These days it's only frequent myoclonus while falling asleep. Benzodiazepines help.

(22,893 posts)I will have just awakened (tho not entirely) and suddenly I hear it. Just as clear as can be- and its never the same sound. I just recently was able to pin down its name (stupid name) so I could finally google it.

(12,153 posts)until I turned 70 several years ago and my back went out, making it impossible for me to walk. At least for the first time in my life I'm now not afraid to sleep in nightgowns instead of street clothes in case I end up downtown or who knows where else. Exploding head, sleepwalking and night terrors didn't happen to me together, but when I couldn't walk anymore, they all stopped.
