We just got our Covid-19 testing kits.

And I just finished with our first tested patient. Results in 2-3 days. I'll let you know how it goes.

He's not showing any of the signs associated with the virus. No fever or any respiratory distress. He had the common cold last month, and just wants to be sure he's okay.

I thought this was precisely the kind of patient that they said shouldn't be tested? DonaldsRump Mar 2020 #1

No accusations etc meant, but I thought the "accepted" advice is to not go in for testing unless you are showing symptoms.

With a recent history of respiratory illness, however mild, he seemed a good candidate. We have plenty of tests. Better a hundred thousand negatives than a positive case that got missed...

was tested and it came up positive. She is part of a study. She can still pass it to others.

If he tests negative, we know he didn't expose anyone else in the clinic.

We're actually doing very little with pt's with respiratory Sx; they're all going to the ED's, urgent care, or staying home. This encounter gave us the opportunity to utilize the necessary safety precautions regarding at-risk patients.
