So my son sends me a text...

"Me and my brother are going for a walk..."

I send back a text saying, "I'm sure you mean, 'My brother and I...'" and sign it "Dad, the Grammar Nazi."

He responds, "Where's the grammar Eisenhower when you need him?"

Good point.

He's an outstanding university student in materials science engineering and he speaks five or six languages, maybe more, I don't know.

Since I don't speak that many languages, I don't know if his grammar in all of them is lousy, although I do know his French is way, way better than mine.

Both he and his brother though, have had this "me and ..." incorrect subjective noun form since they were small, and it seems it can't be broken. They didn't learn it from me, and they didn't learn it from my wife.

Eisenhower was supreme commander of the allied Expeditionary Force and led the d-day invasion, among other operations against the nazis.

Truman didn't have much to do with it. Fdr didn't let his vice-presidents do much of anything, and Truman became president less than one month before v-e day.

On his own he went around the country visiting production facilities and uncovered graft and corruption.

The Truman Committee saved an estimated $ 15 billion (more than enough to pay for the entire Manhattan project and thousands of lives.

Before being picked for VP Truman was ranked 2nd after FDR as most respected civilian leader.

Truman has to be at best a distant third behind fdr and Eisenhower.
