VANITY POST.

The skin on my 55 yr old hands is looking wretched - slack, wrinkly, dry. Likely due to the new hand sanitizer use. I gotta start using lotion - I hope that it is still on the shelves.

Anyone else noticing the skin damage from sanitizers?

Since I’ve been home I wash my hands after the bathroom but watching tv, sitting around don’t wash. But if I go out I am vigilant to use wipes and hand sanitizer.

Anyway I was able to buy hand lotion and a little Vaseline helps if you don’t have any.

My fav brand is Ahava which you can order online cheaper than anywhere I have ever seen on the shelves in the US. But anything with VERIFIABLE Dead Sea Salt and Minerals, will heal and protect your hands. That $5 bottle of hand cream that has a picture of the Dead Sea on the label isn't going to do it.

nitrile, latex or rubber and alcohol disinfect those when you are going into stores when you come back to the car and again after you enter your house. If you use caution in removing them (after thoroughly disinfecting) you can probably reuse them and protect your skin.

I work as a cashier in a pharmacy store, and am regularly sanitizing surfaces and my hands.

Starting to get red and raw. Lotion overnight helps some.

No lotion crunch as of Wednesday.

I remember watching a doc about 'hand models' 20 or so years ago - they wore gloves filled with lotion at night. Not sure if that makes sense in my world, but gonna try it tonite w/coconut oil. If it works I'll do it every few days.

With my rheumatoid arthritis, I'd never have a hand modeling career, anyhow... unless somewhat knobby and deformed becomes the fad.

I just don't like feeling dry and hurting unnecessarily.

...has been requiring manufacturers of anti-bacterials to conduct MUsT studies - Maximum Use Tests - to measure absorption of the chemicals therein through the skin.

It's particularly important for people like surgical nurses, who may wash their hands 40 times a day.

in the printing industry and the harsh chemicals left my hands cracked, dry, and sometimes bleeding. I'vs been taking six flax seed capsules per day and my skin is most and soft, and withstands frequent washing, but my nails and hair grow too damn fast.
